GTIG Guomian: Chinese API Supplier Explores West & East African Markets – Pharma West Africa Exhibition and Customer Visits
From April 12 to 30, 2026, the Chemical & Pharmaceutical Business Division of GTIG Guomian, a trusted Chinese API supplier and pharmaceutical ingredients vendor, conducted a 19-day market development trip to Nigeria and Kenya. The team attended Pharma West Africa in Lagos and visited more than 20 clients in Lagos and Nairobi, covering both existing and potential customers – reinforcing the company’s commitment to the fast-growing African pharmaceutical market.
Pharma West Africa: Over 70 Customer Contacts
During the exhibition (April 14–16), the team received over 70 visitors at the booth, among which 12 were identified as high-priority follow-ups. The showcased products – APIs, excipients, packaging materials, and veterinary drugs – drew strong interest, especially for vitamin series. Two well-established companies – one Indonesian-backed large manufacturer with a completed solid dosage line, and a former formulation distributor with a new plant about to start production – have already scheduled follow-up factory visits.
Market Insight: The Nigerian pharmaceutical market is showing two major trends: the rise of local distribution with extended credit terms attracting end buyers to local players, and strong demand for APIs, excipients, and packaging materials – notably vitamins and injectable-grade excipients.
Client Visits: Deepening Relationships with Existing Clients, Building Bridges with New Ones
Nigeria – Several existing clients plan to purchase bulk APIs such as paracetamol, aspirin, and vitamins, and are also planning new formulation or injection production lines. Some clients have urgent inventory needs or new requirements for injectable-grade APIs. Among new prospects, an Indonesian-backed company has expressed interest in various bulk APIs and excipients (e.g., HPMC). Another new plant is scheduled to start production in September after regulatory inspection. One more client is still in the tablet workshop construction phase, and the team will continue to follow up.
Kenya – On the existing client side, a leading pharmaceutical company is planning a new effervescent tablet line and a joint project in neighboring African countries. Another client’s GLP-1 product business is stabilizing, and the team is assisting with updating its packaging and excipient suppliers. Another well-established client has started commercial IV product orders and will soon send a list of about 20 products for a new production line. Among new prospects, one company will place trial batches after passing the PPB inspection. Another client is planning an eye drop line; the team has recommended pellet and capsule products as a priority.
Next Steps
As a reliable Chinese partner, the team will establish dedicated follow-up files for key potential clients, regularly share quotations and technical data for our advantageous products, respond promptly to existing clients’ new production line needs, and support registration and commercial order placement. We will also work with suppliers to implement customer territory protection for key products.
GTIG Guomian’s Chemical & Pharmaceutical Division will continue its deep cultivation of the African market, leveraging reliable supply, professional regulatory services, and a market-tailored strategy to steadily become the preferred partner for chemical and pharmaceutical solutions in emerging markets.
